SUPERVISES:  None


EDUCATION:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Teacher certification

EXPERIENCE:     

  • Three to five years of successful teaching or related experience
  • Previous experience in curriculum and instruction development preferred

Position Function/Purpose

To provide support and work with the building principal, staff and Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to develop an ongoing program of curriculum enrichment and staff development that will enhance the quality of the academic program of the campus.

Essential Functions

Instructional Management

1.       Work under the supervision of the building principal and in cooperation with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to develop and/or to coach appropriate curriculum and instructional materials that enhance            the quality of the academic program.

2.       Work under the supervision of the building principal and in cooperation with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to plan a comprehensive approach to staff development.

3.       Work under the supervision of the building principal and in cooperation with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to coordinate special programs, field trips, projects, competitions, or exhibits to enhance        the instructional program for students.

  

School/Organization Climate

1.       Work under the supervision of the building principal and in cooperation with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to provide an ongoing and systematic review of curriculum and instructional materials.

2.       Work under the supervision of the building principal and in cooperation with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning to develop and/or revise long range plans for curriculum implementation

 

Personnel Management

1.       Work under the supervision of the building principal to provide orientation to new instructional staff and to substitute teachers.

2.       Assist in the recruitment and interview process for teachers as requested by the division of Human Resource Services or the building principal.

 

Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management

1.       Work under the supervision of the building principal to prepare and submit budget recommendations related to curriculum materials, inventory and equipment needs.

2.       Assist the building principal in coordinating facility needs for staff development, special student programs and parent meetings.

 

Professional Growth and Development

1.       Work under the supervision of the building principal to plan for and to engage in staff development to update knowledge related to best instructional practices.

Qualification Requirements

1.       Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction at the elementary level

2.       Demonstrated commitment to staff development

3.       Strong communication and supervisory skills

Working Conditions:

   Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors:

   Maintain emotional control under stress.  Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and

   pushing.  Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
