Position Function/Purpose

Assist the Electrical Foreman with the daily work orders for repairs maintenance and upgrades to the district electrical systems. Assist in planning and implementation of electrical projects i.e. electrical renovations and upgrades. Etc...

 

Major Responsibilities

 

                1.  Work directly with the Electrical Forman and F.C.C.S Supervisor in scheduling the repairs and modifications of all district electrical systems and circuits.

                2.  Assist Electrical Foreman with estimates on projects and materials for electrical projects

                3.  Complete daily work orders as assigned by Electrical Foreman.

                4.  Communicate with administrators in order to coordinate schedules for the least amount of disturbance                          

                5.  Provide the skills and procedures required to adequately maintain electrical equipment

                6.  Provide the skills needed to assist other departments on district construction or repair projects

                7.  Provide the necessary skills to adequately trouble shoot maintenance problems which occur all electrical systems and circuits and interface with Oncor Equipment and services.

                8.  Have the ability to follow instructions and be flexible to changes in work assignments

                9.  Keep Electrical Foreman and F.C.C.S. Supervisor informed on all projects with work order status

                10.  Must be willing to follow instructions and be flexible to changes in work assignments

                11.  Follow and enforce the rules and regulations of the School Plant Services Department and the Midland Independent School District

                12.  Once assigned, coordinate and inspect the design, installation and quality control of contracted electrical services  for the district

                13.  Maintain and process electrical work orders, invoices, budget projects in a timely manner

                14.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Electrical Foreman, F.C.C.S. Supervisor or the Executive Director of School Plant services.

 

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Certification/Education:

 

                1.  High School Diploma or GED

                2.  Valid Texas Driver's License

                3.  Maintain a State of Texas Journeyman Electricians License

 

                Special Knowledge/Skills:

                1.  Extensive knowledge of HVAC Mechanical and refrigeration repairs and repair techniques including maintenance and new construction     

                2.  General knowledge and aptitude of building construction and electrical systems

                3.  Project a positive attitude among other district personnel and demonstrate a Willingness to work

                4.  Background in electrical systems and circuit repair and maintenance

                5.  Be able to work independently, self  motivated

                6.  The ability to plan and budget projects

                7.  Possess a working knowledge and ability to read construction documents, drawings and equipment schematic drawings

                8.  General computer knowledge

 

                Minimum Experience:

                1.   Two years prior experience as a  Journeyman Electrician

                1.  General hand tools, electric power tools typical to the HVAC Mechanical or Refrigeration trades                         

                2.  Standard MISD vehicle, pickup or van as assigned

                3.  Ladders, lifts, etc.

                4.  Standard electrical repair, diagnostic and electrical metering equipment

                5.  Office computer and district supported software

 

Work Environment
