Position Function/Purpose

Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of the Computer Lab and classroom activities and administrative requirements for Mathematics courses in the Computer Lab.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
  2. Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
  3. Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
  4. Assist the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  5. Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
  6. Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
  7. Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
  8. Assist in inventory, care and maintenance of equipment especially the computers.
  9. Assist the teacher in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
  10. Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed.

Qualification Requirements

  1. High School Diploma or GED. 15-30 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university, preferred
  2. Possess, or  be willing to apply for, a TEA Paraprofessional Certificate (personal expense)
  3. Ability to work with students
  4. Knowledge of general office equipment
  5. Basic mathematical skills
