EDUCATION:   

  • Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Teaching certification (preferred)
  • Administrative certification (preferred)

EXPERIENCE: 

  • 2 years of experience working with adults and families, facilitation and training experience required
  • Title I schools or district level experience (preferred)
  • Experience with administration, coordination, or implementation of state or federal grants (preferred)
  • Campus teaching experience (preferred)
  • Campus administrative experience (preferred)

Position/Function Purpose:

The Parent Engagement and Private Non-Profit Compliance Officer staff assistance toward the compliance processes and systems to ensure that the MISD and campuses achieve and maintain 100% compliance with fiscal and programmatic accountability standards; conducting activities as they pertain to the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) parent engagement and private non-profit compliance requirements;  the support of campus staff in parent engagement and private non-profit compliance, and other Title I programs.

Funding Source:

This position is grant funded.  Annual employment is contingent upon the availability of funds.  This position is 100% assigned to the administration of ESSA programs to include activities designed to enhance the effective and coordinated use of funds (Fund 211).

 

Essential Functions:

 

1. Provide technical assistance and guidance to Title I and Private Non-Profit schools in regards to:

a. Implementation of designated parent and family engagement choice option.

b. Development of required Title I Parent and Family Engagement Documentation (i.e., School-Parent Compact, Parent and Family Engagement Plans, Annual Title I Parent Meeting, Title I Parent Notifications

c. Guidance and support in expending Title I Funds designated for Parent and Family Involvement

Provide school guidance, monitoring and support to ensure proper allocation and use of funds for central office set aside for Family Engagement

2.  Deliver training on federal program compliance and regulations to school administrators, designated school personnel, and parent liaisons.

3.  Review supporting documentation of payroll documents purchase requests from Campuses\Departments for accuracy & compliance with federal funding regulations\district policies. Provide support in the processing of purchase requisitions, accounts payable\invoice payments, payroll, travel, contracts, work orders, equipment requests, etc. for all purchases utilizing funds processed through the Federal Programs Department

4. Provide additional training as needed to campus\department administration; perform general office procedures including typing, filing, mail, duplication of materials, data processing, scanning, editing and general bookkeeping/recordkeeping; maintain general office files: save/store required documents per policy and administrative procedures.

5. Assist with processing and dissemination of department reports, documents, as directed by the State and Federal Programs Coordinator; to include CNA, campus/district improvement plans, program evaluations and budgets.

6. Keep apprised of and comply with federal, district, and school regulations

7. Participate in district and campus staff development programs that improve job related skills.

8. Utilize effective communication skills with campus and district personnel regarding proper use of funds as per funding regulations and other support necessary concerning program requirements for all funds processed through the Federal Programs Department

9. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS

·         Strength: to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.

·         Mental Requirements: read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.

 

Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Must have transportation to visit school locations is required.
