Position Function/Purpose
Assist the teacher in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Major Responsibilities
- Follow the directions of the supervisor
- Prepare instructional materials
- Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal skills
- Conduct small group instruction
- Work cooperatively with both teachers and students
- Assist staff in implementing school-wide and classroom behavior management plans
All other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualification Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED. 48 semester hours of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university OR meets NCLB requirements for Highly Qualified Paraprofessionals
- The ability to attend professional development trainings as required by the District
- Ability to work well with children and staff in a positive manner
Possess or be willing to apply for a TEA Paraprofessional Certificate (personal expense)
