SUPERVISES:  

 

EDUCATION:   Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university with a major in Bilingual/ESL education.

 

EXPERIENCEAt least (5) years in the field of Bilingual/ESL Education. 

 

Position Function/Purpose

The LPAC Compliance Coordinator will provide leadership and will be responsible for the district-wide PK-12 Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) and process all Chapter 89 compliance and support. Provide leadership for the development and/or revision of District's LPAC compliance procedures.

 

Major Responsibilities

 

1.       Be involved in the collection, analysis and interpretation of English Learners’ performance data and the development of campus goals and instructional programs.

2.       Implement, monitor, and maintain District LPAC procedures. Conducts audits of LPAC data to ensure it aligns with state and federal mandates.

3.       Develop and implement a plan for continuous training and communication with campus LPAC representative, principals, and teachers.

4.       Verify all LPAC codes for accuracy; generate LPAC reports as needed at minimum every nine weeks for the Executive Director of English Learners. Work with appropriate staff to gather data, establish or modify goals and objectives, and submit evaluation reports to the Executive Director of English Learners.

5.       Assist administrators and staff in the ongoing review of LPAC procedures and LEP documentation in order to maintain compliance.

6.       Coordinate data; monitor, and oversee the accuracy of reports to District, state and federal agencies.

7.       Work with appropriate central office staff to upgrade centralized services of ELs and provide support to parents and community.

8.       Participate in professional development training as required by the District.

9.       Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other appropriate duties as assigned.

10.    Promotes positive attitude among schools and community members regarding ELs in MISD

11.    Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director of Bilingual/ESL

Qualification Requirements

1.       Fluency in English and Spanish, both oral and written, is a must.

2.       Strong computer skills.

3.       Extensive knowledge of web-based programs.

4.       Excellent verbal and written communication.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The employee must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.  Occasionally required to travel to facilities within the district.  May be required to work after work hours and weekends.
