Position Function/Purpose
The transportation of students, teachers and other school personnel in the safest and most efficient manner possible.
Major Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a knowledge of Driving safety rules
- Demonstrate the ability to perform duties as assigned by supervisor
- Demonstrate the ability to work well with fellow personnel
- Assume responsibility for the care of the bus and related equipment
- Execute DOT inspections and Zonar inspections
- In – service Training – will need to obtain a minimum of 65.5 hours per school year
- Follow policies and procedures regarding student bus discipline
- Demonstrate punctuality when performing duties
- Follow policies and procedures related to absence from duty
- Responsible for safely loading and unloading students daily and performing emergency evacuation drills
- Responsible for the assignment of seats for students and oversee the student rosters
- Able to drive route according to scheduled route plan
- Responsible on servicing and up keep of buses and performing exit checks
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and provide great customer service when working with students and parents
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Director of Transportation
Qualification Requirements
- The ability to read and write English
- Minor computer skills needed
- Physical examination to determine fitness to drive a bus
- Pass DOT drug and alcohol test
- CDL class B or higher
