EXPERIENCE:    

 

Position Function/Purpose

To provide daily maintenance and care of general building and carpentry repairs to all

district facilities in a manner which creates the least amount of disruption.

Major Responsibilities

 

      1.  Work directly with the Carpenter Foreman in scheduling the repairs and modifications of all district property.

      2.  Communicate with administrators in order to coordinate schedules for the least amount of disturbance.

      3.  Provide carpentry work as required to properly repair or modify district equipment or properties as directed.    

           All repairs or construction shall be constructed in a safe manner as not to endanger the buildings occupants.

      4.  Be experienced in the use of construction related power hand tools, power millwork shop tools and general use

           carpenter's hand tools.

      5.  Be knowledgeable in various construction trades and building codes.

      6.  Able to build walls, install doors, install trim, install ceilings, floor tile, repair roofs, and other similar carpentry

           construction as directed.

      7.  Able to analyze and determine the most effective way to repair equipment or plant components.

      8.  Have a basic knowledge of various equipment not directly related to the structural department.

      9.  Have the ability to follow instructions and be flexible to changes in work assignments.

 

      10.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Carpenter Foreman and the Director of Facility and Design.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum Certification/Education:

         1.  High School Diploma or GED

         2.  Valid Texas Driver License and acceptable driving record; must adhere to Midland ISD’s

              vehicle safety and use program

 

         Special Knowledge/Skills:

         1.  Experienced working background in general carpentry or construction application

         2.  General mechanical knowledge and aptitude

         3.  Proven ability to work on an individual basis or with groups of people

         4.  Project a positive attitude among other district personnel, and demonstrate a willingness to work

         5.  General background in masonry construction and masonry installation application

         6.  Experience in hardware applications

         Minimum Experience:

         1.   Two years prior experience as a Carpenter
